John Hostetler has over 42 years of project management experience, engineering along with organizational change management (OCM), lean and quality experiences within software, systems and process. From an Agile perspective, John is a certified ScrumMaster and has developed customized Agile project life cycle methodologies for various customers.
As President of ProVision Today Consulting, John has over seven years of experience in leading CMMI appraisals (i.e., CMMI 1.3, 2.X and now soon with new CMMI 3.0 model) focusing on high maturity practices and performance.
Previously, as Director of Enterprise Quality Solutions (EQS) organization within Fiserv, John’s efforts had been targeted in leading the CMMI Initiative in promoting all ten business units toward a Maturity Level 3 rating along with improved SDLC capabilities and overall performance.
Moreover, prior to joining Fiserv, John was with Tata Consultancy Services responsible for both strategic and operational consulting for both IT and non-IT organizations related to improving their SDLC processes and artifacts mainly surrounding Agile methodologies. Before Tata, John was with Micro Focus, Ltd. as a Principal Consultant, his efforts focused on activities surrounding the Sarbanes-Oxley, CobiT and CMMI frameworks in addressing regulatory compliance; in establishing IT governance and overall process improvement programs.
Prior to Micro Focus, John was with Nokia Inc. for 6 years where he was the Director of Quality within Networks. He managed 13 global telecommunication software and hardware product lines in leading their process improvement efforts using the CMMI model along with his global team of 25 assessors, trainers, and coaches. Several of his Nokia IT organizations had reached Level 2 and Level 3 CMMI maturity levels showing substantial business value.
Before joining Nokia, John was with The Boeing Company as the Software Engineering Process Group (SEPG) Manager, and in the SEPG organization spanning over 10 years. His IT organization, of over 450 managers / engineers, had reached SW-CMM Level 5 and was saving over $80M annually by the time he had left in 1999. In 1998, John and his SEPG organization received the “Innovator Award” by Keane, Inc. as being the largest commercial U.S. organization to ever reach SW-CMM Level 3 at the time.
Besides being very experienced with the capability maturity models of the CMMI Institute, and now ISACA, he is certified to provide all appraisal types (benchmark, sustainment and evaluation) for the CMMI regarding development. He is an ISACA-certified High-Maturity Lead Appraiser. He has performed numerous formal and informal CMMI assessments during his career.
